Pearl Grading
Every pearl is graded before it becomes part of a Swati Pearls piece. Heres what our grades mean, and the criteria our craftsmen use to assess each one.
Our Grade Scale
| Grade | What It Means |
|---|---|
| AAA | Exceptional lustre with a near-mirror-like reflective surface, minimal blemishes, and consistently round or near-round shape. Our finest grade, used in bridal and statement pieces. |
| AA | High lustre with very light, minor surface characteristics visible only on close inspection. Excellent everyday luxury quality. |
| A | Good lustre with some visible surface characteristics. A classic, accessible quality used widely across our mala and strand collections. |
| B | Moderate lustre with more visible surface characteristics and less uniform shape. Used selectively where design calls for a more organic, natural look. |
What We Assess
Lustre
The sharpness and brightness of light reflected off the pearls surface — the single biggest factor in a pearls beauty and value.
Surface
How clean and smooth the pearls surface is, with fewer marks, bumps, or irregularities indicating a higher grade.
Shape
Round and near-round shapes are rarest and most prized, though drop, button, and baroque shapes each have their own character.
Size & Uniformity
Larger pearls are rarer, and strands are matched for consistent size across every pearl for a balanced, cohesive look.
Every piece we sell ships with a certificate of authenticity stating the pearl type, size, and grade — so you always know exactly what you are bringing home.
